Welcome back to week 4 of the One Room Challenge!
If you are joining me for the first time, Hello and Welcome! My name is Jaclyn. My family recently moved into a new (to us) house in January of this year. Here on my blog I share all of my remodel, DIY, and home decor projects that I do on a budget. I am currently working on a little explorer boys bedroom for the challenge.
This week I tackled one of my big projects on my to do list.
Paint the accent wall.
I have to admit this aspect of the room was easy to design and visualize in my head, but when it came to start working on it, I was nervous. I did not want to screw this up. For some reason whenever it comes to having to do things in a straight line, where precision is key I normally pass that project over to Tad for that moment. However, Tad was busy working on some projects for our Basement Remodel pretty much every spare minute that he had. That meant I was all alone on this project. I knew that I was going to just dive right into it and get it done and that is just what I did. I made a step by step plan on how I was going to do the wall and I think it helped me not be so nervous to mess it up.
Here is the wall waiting to be designed.
I really wanted this artwork from Dot & Bo. Unfortunately they closed shop in September, so there was no way I was going to be able to get this piece of art for the room. I really loved the design of this and still wanted to incorporate it into the room somehow. After thinking it over a bit I decided to use the artwork as the inspiration for the accent wall for the little explorer boys bedroom.
I do plan on sharing a step by step of how I did the accent wall, but that is a post for another day.
I will share with you a little sneak peek of the wall.
No, that is not how the wall really looks. I put a filter on the image to kind of hide the picture. You are going to have to wait until week 6 to see the big reveal of the room.
I have posted a few other sneak peeks of the room on my Instagram account in my IG stories.
I will say that the accent wall came together so much easier and quicker then I thought that it would. I am glad that I got this huge item crossed off of my to do list. Now only a few big items left to do and two weeks to get them done!
