Do you love the look of birch in holiday decorations?
I sure do!
Unfortunately there are no birch trees any where near my house that I could borrow from to add to my decorations. Buying birch logs at the the craft stores can get a bit pricey. So I was excited when I found this Embossed Birch Gift Wrap! I knew that I could make my own DIY faux birch sticks.
Here are the Supplies that you will need to make the Faux Birch sticks.
- Birch Embossed Gift Wrap
- sticks of varying sizes
- paint brush
Take your stick and place it on top of the inside of the wrapping paper. Make sure that you can wrap the paper all the way around the entire stick. Now cut that long strip of the paper off. That will be all that you need to cover your stick. If your stick is to long, you may need to cut a second strip of paper to cover it.
Use the paintbrush and paint the glue right onto the stick. Apply it so that you can see the glue but not so much that is is dripping off of the stick. Work in small 3-4 inch sections.
Take the paper and start wrapping it around the stick. You may need to hold the first section down for a few seconds as the glue dries. Add some glue to the seam of the paper as well. Use the paint brush or your finger to smooth down the paper and firmly adhere it to the stick. Continue working all the way down and around the stick. Cut off any extra paper.
If your stick has a slight bend or curve to it it will cause the paper to get a little wrinkly. The straighter the stick the easier it will be to put on the paper. If your stick has an notches or small branches off of them, just poke them through the paper and apply more glue and paper around the branches as needed. Let your sticks fully dry.
Now you have your own Faux Birch Sticks to decorate with!
