I do not like fish.
I am a fish sticks from a box kinda person, (if you call that fish, lol) At least I use to be a fish sticks from a box kinda person that is until I tried this grilled salmon recipe. Every now and again I would eat tilapia but if I got a fishy tasting bite, You know the bite that tastes like fish water. Ewww! I was done right there. Growing up my Mom made fish on a semi regular basis. On those nights I stayed outside because the smell of the fish cooking grossed me out and I normally ended up happily eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner.
So why did I try this grilled salmon? I honestly have no idea.
Maybe my taste buds grew up, or it was the smokey cedar smell, or the way it looked. I really don’t know what came over me, but let me tell you it converted me! This fish was so delicious that I went to the store and bought some salmon for the first time ever.
This recipe is easy and quick to put together.
I used Weber Firespice Cedar planks (affiliate link) They come in packs of two. I only used one for our family, if you have a larger family or group of people you may need to use both planks. You need to soak the planks for at least an hour. That is the longest part of this recipe. If you do not soak the plank it will catch on fire.
First Preheat grill to medium- low heat, about 350*F.
Next In a small mixing bowl, combine rub ingredients. Rub salmon with the desired amount of rub and set aside.
Last Place soaked plank on preheated grill, close the lid, and heat for 3 minutes. Using tongs turn the plank over and place the salmon filets on the heated side of the plank. Close the lid and grill for 12-15 minutes or until the salmon is nice and flaky when pulled apart.
Remove from the grill and drizzle with desired amount of honey.
The flavor of this plank grilled salmon is amazing! It is a combo of smokey and sweet deliciousness.
This would be a great recipe for a Father’s Day grill out. A little switch up from the typical hamburger and hot dogs.
I really encourage you to try this recipe, even if you do not typically like fish like I was. It just may convert you like it did me!
I will be linking up HERE.
