Ever since we moved to Traverse City last year, Arianna asked on a regular basis if she could go to the ‘Wolf Hotel’ or what most people call, The Great Wolf Lodge. If you are not familiar with The Great Wolf Lodge, it is a large resort hotel that has a massive indoor water park that is exclusive to guest of the hotel. It also has lots of other fun activities for both kids and adults with 5 pin bowling, an arcade, spa, children’s spa, ice cream shop, restaurants, and story time, to name a few. Last year Arianna and I made the plan that we would go to the Great Wolf Lodge for her birthday. After having a birthday weekend with Grandma and Papa, we drove home and surprised her with a day at the Great Wolf Lodge. She had a great time and repeatedly braved the water slides all by herself!
I love decorating for birthday parties. Normally I start planning 6 months before the party to give myself plenty of time to get a party put together. This year however, Arianna and I couldn’t pick a theme for her birthday. One week before her birthday we decided on having a My Little Pony birthday. I decided to keep it pretty simple with minimal decorations and using many things that we already had in our house to keep the cost low.
Instead of buying balloons and streamers to decorate with I made a rainbow flower wall out of paper that I already had in my craft supplies. It took a few days of working on the flowers for a couple hours at a time to get them all done.
The cake was a confetti sprinkle cake with vanilla frosting and topped with rainbow sprinkles and of course Rainbow Dash!
Arianna owned a few My Little Ponies already, but not enough to fully decorate with. I ran to Target and found some ponies on clearance up in the checkout lines for .88 cents each! That was a huge score! I was able to get all the ponies that she didn’t have already and for a fraction of what they normally cost.
More sprinkles and ponies!
The My Little Pony cups are filled with party blowers and plastic swirly straws.
A special Birthday sign for the Birthday girls chair.
Arianna had a great time and loved having a My Little Pony birthday.
Happy 4th Birthday Little Miss!
