A Rustic Spring Tablescape for Easter

Rustic Spring tablescape for Easter - This table spring table decor design features a terracotta pot centerpiece on top of a layered table runner, with green moss and white bunny rabbits.

I know that Easter has come and gone but I wanted to share my Spring Tablescape for Easter anyways. I mean nothing was really normal about this years Easter, so why not share my Easter table decor, after Easter!

I call it my Easter table decor because it is what I used for our Easter celebrations at home this year but really this tablescape has been up all spring long. I just added some more Easter touches around the room and to the table, like the white bunnies and wooden Easter eggs. So really this dining room table decor works for both an Easter tablescape and a Spring tablescape.

I have been super loving the look of aged terracotta pots for Spring. There is nothing quite like the real deal of aged terracotta pots, each one so different then the other with their varying colors and age patterns.

Last Summer when I was out thrifting I came across these terracotta pots in my local Habitat for Humanity store for a fraction of the regular price. Maybe they were so cheap because they were dirty and worn, but to me they were beautiful! I bought as many as they had. Then to my surprise when I went back for another browsing trip to Habitat they had more! So I bought those as well. I may have tipped them off with my first purchase because the second round of purchasing the aged terracotta pots was not as cheap as the first! I didn’t mind though because those beauties were coming home with me! Then I tucked them away in my garage and patiently waited for Spring to arrive so that I could create the Spring tablescape that I had envisioned when I bought them.

– My tip for How to Age Terracotta Pots –

If you want to have some aged terracotta pots to decorate with for Spring, buy some at the store now and plant some plants in them and then let them sit outside all summer and through the fall and winter. Come next spring you will have some dirty but aged terracotta pots. I have seen tutorials on how to DIY aged terracotta pots, but nothing really compares to the real deal!

A great way to add some interest and texture to your tablescape is to add layers. I started with my favorite neutral table runner. I have used this table runner for every season, I highly recommend that you get a neutral table runner that you love. It is a great base piece for any table and is perfect for layering.

On top of the table runner I put four twig place mats. I bought these specific ones from Joann Fabric in the Fall. You could recreate this look with some water hyacinth woven place mats or these woven fern twig place mats.

Then I placed my aged terracotta pots down the center of the table. I started in the middle and worked my way out to the ends of the twig place mats. I added some green moss balls and some bunches of natural moss inside and around the terracotta pots. Under some terracotta pots I added mini garland greenery that I picked up from the Target dollar spot.

To complete the Spring centerpiece look I added in these faux white hyacinths, the new white wooden bunnies and wooden eggs.

I wanted to keep the Neutral rustic Easter look going with my place setting so I used the same technique layering of neutrals. I started with my natural woven place mats and then layered in the Galvanized Chargers and my white Ikea dishes.

For a cute spring touch I added the mini tobacco baskets, with these blue striped napkins draped down the center of them and these leafy napkin rings on top. Typically napkin rings go around napkins, but I liked the way they looked this way better. I don’t think that it could be done with all types of napkin rings, but because these look almost like mini wreaths, I think it works.

Neutral Spring place setting and tablescape -

Once my Rustic Spring Tablescape was set I moved to adding some spring and Easter touches to my dining room fireplace and side table. More bunnies and Easter eggs sprinkled everywhere.

This view in my dining room, between the two sets of windows, is always so hard to photograph. It is the reason I switched my chippy white hutch and my side table around. I was hoping that the side table would get more light and be easier to photograph, but that isn’t the case. None the less here is a view of this side of the room because I love the way it looks.

Every year for Easter I volunteer to make a dessert for our family Easter party. It always gives me a great reason to try out a new recipe or two. This year I decided to keep it classic with a carrot cake since it was just the four of us celebrating at home.

Carrot Cake is one of my favorite desserts! I should say carrot cake with no raisins and nuts is one of my favorite desserts! Growing up I remember many a birthdays that I requested to have carrot cake for my birthday cake. My mom would make me a carrot cake and decorate it with small orange and green carrots around the top of the cake. That little detail made all the difference to me. It just wasn’t carrot cake without those frosting carrots on top!

I have made several carrot cakes before but I never decorated the top of it with frosting carrots. I happened to have some orange and green frosting on hand and decided to give it a go this time. I had already put the little frosting dollops around the outside edge of the cake – sorry to all my baker friends, I don’t know what they are called – So I decided to put on large carrot in the center of the carrot cake. I love the way that it turned out!

Up until the night before Easter my dining room fireplace mantel still had my St. Patrick’s Day mantel decor up on it. So I spent the night before Easter filling Easter baskets and decorating my dining room fireplace. I think that it came together nicely for being so rushed and last minute.

I kept the chalkboard up on the mantel and added a ‘Happy Easter’ bunting to it and placed a chicken feeder with wooden Easter eggs under neath it. On each side of the chalkboard I placed some chippy white pillar candle holders with mini terracotta pots and some faux succulents.

You may notice that all the greenery in my house is fake, that is because I can’t keep plants alive inside of my house. Even something simple like succulents! I have tried a variety of plants and they have all ended up dying on me.

I did sneak in a few real tulips into my spring fireplace decor. However these only stayed here for Easter and then they were moved outside and planted.

On the other side of the fireplace I put a basket of eucalyptus and chippy white porch spindles along with another tulip in a terracotta pot and my favorite Easter Bunny! I am pretty sure this cute little bunny rabbit will make an appearance in all of my spring and Easter decor.

He was the highlight of this Easter tablescape
