Christmas 2020 | A Reindeer Themed Christmas Tree

Welcome to the 4th annual Christmas tree blog hop ! I can’t believe it is time to start sharing our Christmas trees again! I can not wait to show you my Reindeer Christmas Tree that I have for this years themed Christmas tree!
Reindeer Christmas Tree Inspiration
The inspiration for my Christmas tree came from last years DIY Reindeer Christmas Sign. I loved it so much that I decided to theme this years Christmas decor around it!

Putting this tree together turned out to be quite the ordeal, all of which was of my own making. I started out with last years tree, and had it almost fully decorated in my Reindeer theme but it just didn’t look right and I just wasn’t feeling it at all. Normally I get more and more excited about my Christmas tree as I get closer to finishing it. I had zero excitement about this tree. It just felt gappy and off. So I walked away from the tree to see if that would help and it didn’t so after going back and forth for a few days I decided to order a new tree. I searched around and ultimately decided on this one. So I undecorated my old tree and set up the new tree to decorate. What I failed to do was to read through the full dimensions of the tree. I made sure I had the right height for our living room, but I didn’t read much past that. Well the bottom of the tree is not as wide as I thought it would be! That’s what I get for not reading though the listing! Looks like I will just have to buy another new tree for next year! Oh darn! LOL Don’t worry this one will not go to waste! I am planning on putting this one in our bedroom next Christmas!
I really do love the look of this tree, it has beautiful real tip branches and was a breeze to put together! It is also my first pre-lit tree! Thank goodness for that! No string lights to deal with!
Reindeer Christmas Tree Details
Let’s get to the details of this Reindeer themed Christmas tree. When I was planning out my Reindeer themed tree there were a few things that I knew were going to be must haves for my tree,
- Reindeer ornaments
- Reindeer looking fur
- Jingle Bells / Sleigh Bells
- Antlers
- Overall woodsy feel to the tree
I didn’t have a color scheme in mind when I planned my tree, but as I began decorating it a Gold, Brown and Cream colored Christmas tree was created. First on my tree must haves was reindeer ornaments. Because you can’t have a reindeer themed Christmas tree without reindeer ornaments! I found these ones at a local boutique store in my town. I liked that they looked like they were carved from wood – which totally adds to my woodsy feel to the tree.

I really wanted some reindeer looking fur ribbon to put on my themed Christmas tree but I couldn’t find any. What I did find was this adorable reindeer ribbon at Joann Fabrics as well as these Fur star ornaments! They both were perfect for my tree! I used 2 spools of ribbon on the tree and had some left over. Since the fur star ornaments were just one style of the themed ornaments for my tree I bought 6 of them.

I also bought a new neutral cranberry bead garland for my tree from Walmart. My tree used 3 wood bead garlands.
Next on my list were bells. When I think of Reindeer I think of sleigh bells too. I really wanted some rustic vintage looking bells to add to my Christmas tree. I found these ones and they were perfect for my tree! They have a beautiful aged patina to them and they came in a package of 12!

The next think on my list were antlers. My plan was to add my real deer antlers as ornaments on my tree, except when I went to go get them I couldn’t remember where I had stored them! I have looked high and low and every nook and cranny of my decor storage and they are nowhere to be found. I am so bummed because it was one of my main ideas for my tree! I am going to continue searching for them and *when* – thinking positive thoughts here – I find them I will take some new pictures of my tree and add them! I really think it will take the tree to the next level! So say a prayer I find them soon and don’t have to keep my tree up until Easter or something!
Since I didn’t have my real antlers *womp womp* I added 2 made over plastic antler ornaments to the top of my tree along with some tree branches that I had on hand.

To fill in the tree some more I added my favorite birch bark ornaments, an assortment of brown ornaments, large gold and iced branch ornaments all of which I bought from the At Home store!
I would love to decorate under my tree with a bunch of beautifully wrapped presents but I have a curious little boy who would be tempted to unwrap them. Even knowing that they are fake, he would unwrap them. So I added just one little stack of wrapped presents and other Christmas decor items to fill the bottom of my tree. The Dec 25 sign is something new that I bought this year to add to my decorations.

I had so much fun creating and decorating my Reindeer Christmas tree and I hope that you loved it too! I will be sharing the rest of my Christmas decor soon! I have my Reindeer themed Living room, my Christmas Dining Room as well as my White Cottage Christmas Sunroom to share! I hate it when a tree doesn’t turn out like I want…I’ve redecorated more trees than I care to admit 🙂 But yours came out beautiful in the end, Jaclyn. I love the reindeer ribbon!

Your tree is beautiful! I love your idea to do a reindeer theme for Christmas. The reindeer ribbon that you scored is perfect and it looks so great with your neutral cranberry garland and pretty ornaments. I had to laugh when you said you couldn’t find your real antlers to use. I have that same experience so often! Last year I didn’t find our Christmas tree star until after Christmas. I loved seeing your tree!
