A Farmhouse St. Patrick’s Day Mantel

We don’t really do anything special for St. Patrick’s day, that is if you don’t count eating Lucky Charms for breakfast special. I had this idea last year of an all green vintage book display for the mantel. I thought it would be a cute way to tie in St. Patrick’s day to my farmhouse decorating style. The only problem was last year I had only two or three vintage green books. So anytime that I was out thrifting I would keep an eye out for vintage green hard covered books. I have collected just enough to put together this farmhouse St. Patrick’s day mantel decor.

I tried finding an Irish flower to put in my flower pots, but there were none to be found this time of year in Minnesota. I wanted something white and I found these paper white bulbs on clearance at Walmart.

I thought that they would tie in so nicely, that is until they got to be almost two feet tall! I envisioned these cute short stems with white blooms and they didn’t quite turn out that way.

I traded out the crazy growing paper whites for some vintage silver containers and some faux dried hydrangeas. They have a golden tone to them so I think that they are fitting for my St. Patrick’s Day decorations!

The hanging greenery I bought from Hobby Lobby. I wanted to try something different then some greenery draped across the mantel and came up with the idea of hanging the garland on the mirror. I used my favorite hooks to hang them. It took only seconds to put together.

I love the organic nature of this garland and how some areas are fuller then others and some areas longer and shorter. I feel like this is something that you might find in the Irish Isles. I hope to one day make a trip to Ireland and see for myself!

This mantel decor could easily be used as a Spring Mantel as well!
Just by switching out the flowers it would create a whole new look!

Do you decorate for St. Patrick’s Day or do anything special? I would love to know!
