Summer weather has started slowly rolling in around here and it has been wonderful! I have been wanting to decorate the porch ever since we gave it a mini face lift. A good power wash and some paint to the shutters and front door and our porch was looking great! Here is a little before and after of the front porch.
Power washing our entire house was one of the best things we could have done to improve to look of the outside of our house. I am not sure if it had ever been done to the house, but it definitely looked like a new house when we were done. The biggest transformation was our decks. I didn’t think our front porch was too dirty since it was covered, but I was wrong. There was a big difference in the before and after of the porch. Painting the shutters, front door and light fixtures really helped brighten things up on the porch.
Once all of the power washing and painting was done it was time to add some decorations!
The first thing I love to get for my porches in the late spring and early summer are some hanging ferns. I love the look of them! They add great pops of green to a space and I love the way they drape.
Then I added some decorations to the bench at the end of the porch. I kept to a red, white and blue patriotic color scheme. I normally don’t decorate with red, but I make an exception for the patriotic holidays and Christmas.
The little red star lantern is from the Target Dollar Spot. They also have adorable galvanized star lanterns as well, but they were out of the large ones at my Target, so I went with the red.
The red throw pillows I found at TJMaxx for $13 each! I originally planned on using them for Christmas, but when I was decorating my bench I liked them here to add some more red to the space. I love the texture that the knit design on the front of these pillows add to the bench. It makes it feel more cozy.
The throw was another T.J.Maxx find. I am a big blue lover and blanket lover and stripes lover and tassel lover. Needless to say I fell in LOVE with this blanket. I was actually out looking for a throw blanket for a room makeover that I am doing for my parents when I found this blanket. Isn’t that how it tends to work most of the time. When you are not looking for yourself, you come across all sorts of things you love.
The Ribbon Flag was a DIY project that I did and you can learn how to make one for your self HERE. It was a quick project and I love the way that the flag turned out!
The red and blue pendent garland came from the Target Dollar spot as well. They had so many adorable garlands to choose from this year, but I love how the red matches my flag and the blue stripes, well need I say more?
The American Map pillow is called the Patriot and is from my Society6 Shop. I think it adds the perfect touch to my Patriotic Porch Decor! The colors of the pillow are not as bright as the rest and that is to give it an aged worn look.
Now my porch is ready for summer!
You can easily add a patriotic theme to your home too!
You don’t need a lot of stuff or a large porch to add some decor!
