Basement Remodel – The Latest

The basement remodel project has made some progress. Well it has been making progress for a while now but none of it was big visible things. Running the electrical back to the breaker box, or getting the outlets all wired are not very photo worthy. They are just the big behind the scenes things that need to get done so that we can continue on with our project.

You know what is exctiting!

The Drywall is almost complete!

Sorry the picture is a little blurry. For some reason he didn’t want to stop working and pose for a picture.

I say almost complete because we still have to tape and mud and then sand. I am not looking forward to mess from sanding. It is getting closer to installing the cabinets time and then painting time! That is what I am looking forward too! It has been so long since I painted something. I have had a paint roller wrapped in aluminum foil in my refrigerator since I did Ryder’s Little Explorer room back in October.

Did you know that you could do that?

Instead of washing out my roller at the end of painting, I just wrapped it in foil and put it in the refrigerator to save for the next time. It keeps the paint wet and your roller ready to go for the next painting job. I normally just do that with my primer or white paint. Since that is a color I will be using all through my house I can use the same roller over and over. In fact I am getting it out today to paint the kitchen! That is if I can get the kids occupied with something so I can get my paint out.

Curious Toddlers + wall paint = possible disaster.

Here is another shot of the drywall being installed. That open space to the right where there is no dry wall will hold a stack-able washer and dryer.

This is what it looks like currently. We had to buy some bead board paneling to put in next to the washer and dryer because the drywall was to wide for them to fit in. We have a little bit of drywall left to finish up and then all the drywall will be up.

I am really hoping we will be able to finish this up by this weekend and then we can move on to the next steps!

If there is one thing I have learned so far, it is that remodel projects take much longer then you anticipate!
