For the last six weeks I have been working on putting together a boho mermaid bedroom for my daughter Arianna. I am so excited to share the big reveal of the room with you! I feel like this room is so unique because it combines both Bohemian and Mermaid/nautical themes together. This room transformation came together very smoothly and I am so happy with the way it turned out! My design plans for the room took a twist into a new direction when I fell in love with a boho style Rug. I thought that it would be fitting to change the name of the room design since it took a spin in a different direction.
Sea Gypsy – A Boho Mermaid Bedroom
When I was shopping for a rug for this bedroom I stumbled upon this bohemian rug and just fell in love with it right away. I love all the vibrant colors that matched my room theme and the distressed worn look that it has to it. It makes it feel as if it could be part of a forgotten treasure.
I showed the rug to my Daughter and she loved it as well, Mostly because it contained the color pink.
In a 4 year olds world that is a make or break kind of deal.
This Faux Capiz wall hanging was a quick and easy DIY project. I will be sharing a tutorial on how to make your own soon!
I love the texture the Faux Capiz shells add to the wall and it was so easy to make! I think it is a prefect mix of Mermaid feel with a Bohemian touch!
I have called Arianna, Little Miss, since she was a baby, so buying this sign was a must. I never even thought to put a nickname on a sign. Most people probably don’t want their childhood nicknames put on a sign because they are often cutesy names, but this works!
The ‘A’ was from Arianna’s Baby shower. It is just a cardboard letter A from Joann Fabrics wrapped in Yarn. The sea shell was an ornament, also from Joann Fabrics, that I picked up on Clearance after this past Christmas.
Does that Mermaid Lagoon sign on the bookshelf look familiar? It is from Ryder’s Peter Pan 1st Birthday!
The Grey tassel pillows I found at T.J.Maxx for just $15 each! Add some tassel fringe to anything and I am sold! The pink pillow I made using this tutorial.
I finally found the perfect little chair for the little vanity table. I added the same pink fabric to the seat that I used to make the pillow on the bed with. The contrast of the dark wood chair and the pearl white table adds a fun unexpected element to the room. The mirror I dry brushed some white chalk paint onto it to give it an aged feel.
Arianna loves having her own place to play with and put on her play makeup. It is one of those toys that gets played with on a daily basis. She is always asking if I want a makeover or trying to get her brother to sit still so she can put makeup on him.
Since I have bought this make up set, Arianna has stayed out of my makeup! That means no more surprise messes, at least no more surprise makeup messes. I still get plenty of surprise messes from my kids!

They are a quick and easy DIY project!
The doll house was another fun makeover that I did for her room. I plan on sharing a tutorial on how I did it soon!
This gallery wall was a collection of things that I have collected over time, bought from handmade shops or made myself. One of my favorite pieces is the dream catcher from Moss and Lace Design on Etsy. I told Heather, the owner of Moss and Lace Design, that I wanted a pink mermaid themed dream catcher and let her come up with her own design for it and I think she did an amazing job!
I scored when I found this cute book that went perfectly with my theme at a thrift store. I just love thrift store shopping! You never know what treasures you will find!
The mermaid hoop art was something that I made back when Arianna was a baby. It was just a fun project to try my hand at. I never thought it would ever be used for decor. I stumbled upon it again just a few days ago and knew it would be the perfect addition to the room. The colors match perfectly too!
My entire gallery wall, with the exception of the teal anchor, is hung with command strips! I just love using command strips to hang things up with! I hate putting holes in the wall, so this is the perfect solution! Heavy Items I hang up with hooks and nails but these command strips can hold quite a bit a weight. I most often use the Velcro Command strips.
That is Arianna’s new Boho Mermaid Bedroom!
I hope this inspires you to make over a room in your home!
