• Dining Room Makeover

Many of you have been waiting to see my reveal of my Dining room. If you follow me on Instagram then you know that I was just waiting on the light issue to get resolved before I could take some pictures to show you the finished room. You can’t really have a room without a light in it, and a light fixture can really make or break the design of a room. The light hanging in the dining room before had to go. I mean it wasn’t horrible, but this light and I were not friends. The day that we got our keys to the house I was all about moving in. My husband…

  • Basement Remodel – The Latest

The basement remodel project has made some progress. Well it has been making progress for a while now but none of it was big visible things. Running the electrical back to the breaker box, or getting the outlets all wired are not very photo worthy. They are just the big behind the scenes things that need to get done so that we can continue on with our project. You know what is exctiting! The Drywall is almost complete! Sorry the picture is a little blurry. For some reason he didn’t want to stop working and pose for a picture. I say almost complete because we still have to tape and…

  • Little Explorer Boys Room | One Room Challenge Fall 2016: Week 2

The first week of the One Room Challenge is complete. Progress was made on my Little Explorer Boys Room, not as much as I would of liked to get done. Some progress is better then no progress. If you are just joining in, Welcome! You can check out the inspiration board for the bedroom here. The first week I was able to get the basic things done in the room. First, I filled all the holes in the walls. I am not sure what the previous owners had up on their walls but there are so many push pin sized holes in the wall. I lost count after I filled…

  • Little Explorer Boys Room | One Room Challenge Fall 2016: Week 1

Today I am beginning a new project: A Little Explorer themed Boys Bedroom, and I only have 6 weeks to pull it off! You might be wondering why 6 week, well I am once again participating in the Once Room Challenge hosted by Calling it Home as a guest participant. I really enjoyed working on the Kids Coastal Bathroom for the Spring 2016 One Room Challenge that I decided to join in the fun again. You see each fall and spring the One Room Challenge is held and  twenty design bloggers take the challenge and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers share their progress and every Thursday the Guest Participants share their progress during…

  • Basement Remodel

Tad was gone all of last week in Minnesota, while the kids and I stayed home in Michigan. For me, the days were long and busy. Made even more busy by the fact that our dishwasher decided to stop working the day that Tad left. So all week long I was washing every dish by hand, making my evenings a bit longer. I have come to the conclusion that we use far to many dishes in a day and we need to work on that. I did notice that I had less laundry to do when Tad was gone, so that was helpful at least. The dishwasher also decided to…

  • Cutting Edge Stencils Review

This post contains affiliate links, read my disclosure policy HERE.   I was in a bit of a remodel daze after finishing my Coastal Kids Bathroom for the One Room Challenge. I have such a large to do list for every room that I was a little lost as to where to go next. Summer was also upon us and I spent many days enjoying it with Arianna and Ryder outside. I can not leave my to do list sitting dormant for long. Just looking around our house at its khaki colored walls gives me the urge to get to work again.  I was thrilled when I was contacted by Cutting Edge Stencils!  They…

  • How to save on wall hooks

When I was working on my Coastal Bathroom for the One Room Challenge. I hunted for the perfect style hook to hang towels on, that would go with the theme and feel of the room. I like my themes to be recognized but subtle at the same time. I came across several hooks that I really liked, like these hooks from Anthropologie. At $18 each I kept looking. I didn’t want to spend a large portion of my budget on wall hooks. These hooks were a bit better on my budget at $9.95 each, but I kept searching and I am so happy that I did.   I came across this…

  • How to build a Shiplap Door

There has been so much love for my shiplap door from my Coastal Bathroom Remodel that I did as part of the One Room Challenge. So I am going to share with you how you can make your own shiplap door in one day for under $20 and what mistakes to avoid! I came up with the idea of a shiplap door when I was brainstorming ideas for the kids coastal bathroom remodel. I really loved the idea of having shiplap in the bathroom to go with the coastal theme, but the kids bathroom was so big, my budget to small and my time to limited. I painted the plain…

  • Coastal Bathroom Reveal

This last week was a rough one for our family. It started out great. We had a great Mother’s Day with family and a fun trip to the Detroit Zoo. On our drive home our Little Miss got sick and had some respiratory distress and ended up in the Emergency Room and then was admitted to the Hospital for a couple of days. The last several days we have been in the hospital and working on getting her better. She is much better today and will be discharged shortly. Now that we are home I am able to share my pictures of our bathroom for the One Room Challenge with you.…
