Here is what you will need:

Painting the accent wall was one of the last things that I did in the room. I kept putting it off because I was so worried that I would mess it up and my lines would be crooked. Which seems so silly since it is paint and could just be painted back over. Once I got started, The wall came together really quickly and I was done before I knew it.

To help myself keep some straight lines and not mess up, I placed some painters tape in sections slightly wider then the size of the triangles running up the length of the wall. I then added a dot of tape to the sections that I wanted to point down to the floor with the pattern.

Using long blade scissors I cut the sponge into the shape of a triangle . The scissors helped me to get some nice straight lines. By using one of the edges of the sponge, I only needed to cut two straight lines. I made a large and small triangle to add some different dimension to the wall. Don’t worry if you mess up! I was able to get two large triangles and two small triangles from one sponge.

I suggest doing all of the the columns that you plan to go the same direction first. I decided to start with the downward pointing pattern first. Lightly dip the triangle in the paint and then dab it on the flat surface of the paint tray so that there is not much paint on the sponge. This helps the triangle have somewhat of a distressed look to it. I did not have a pattern to my triangles outside of what row pointed up or down. I just did what was pleasing to the eye and the space.
