Little Explorer Boys Room | One Room Challenge Fall 2016: Week 5

Welcome to Week 5 of the One Room Challenge!

There is just one week left to wrap up last minute projects! My room is just about ready, except I have to finish my one big project. Nothing like running down the clock on a project! It is just about finished, kind of.

Lets get to what I did get finished this last week.

I found a great deal on a headboard for the room. While I loved this bed.

It didn’t come in a twin size.  I took to hunting down at every single thrift store and home store around town and finally scored this beauty.

I was able to get this headboard for just $20. That was a huge savings on my budget. With just a little spray paint this headboard looks brand new and matches the room great!

I also lucked out and found this!

I had originally wanted a side table like this for the room. You might be familiar with the West Elm or Pottery Barn Version. Both of which were out of my budget for the room.

West Elm
Pottery Barn

Lucky me I found this on the side of the road for free. I was tempted to go over and ask my neighbor for a log from the trees that he had recently cut down in his yard. The only reason I didn’t was because I don’t know them very well and thought that it might make an odd first impression.

I spend this week getting the log turned into a night stand table.

I did run into a small problem.

The drawer pulls that I bought for the dresser had holes that were closer together then the old ones. I had already painted the dresser. Luckily I had not sealed it yet, so I was able to fill one hole with wood filler and then sand it down and paint over it.

I don’t even think you can see where the hole was at all now! I am so happy because I was worried that there would be an indent where the old handle hole was.

If you follow me on Instagram you will see that I have posted a few sneak peeks of the room in my Instagram Stories.

I will be posting a few more of them as well as my trip to Nashville this weekend! My husband surprised me with a mini get away to Nashville for my anniversary present this year. I will be attending the Business Boutique conference put on by Dave Ramsey’s Team. I am so excited to go! If you are going to the conference I would love to meet you!

Come back next week for the room reveal! Until then head on over and check out the other participants progress on their rooms HERE.
