Peter Pan 1st Birthday

We had a beautiful warm sunny day celebrating Ryder’s first birthday. Our family came up to our house and to stay for a long weekend. We had a lot of fun spending time together and celebrating Ryder turning one. Here is Ryder’s Peter Pan 1sts birthday.

To set the tone and let guest know the theme of the party I sent out these adorable postcards by White Rabbit Press on Etsy. She has several other adorable prints so you should go check out her shop. Tay was really great to work with.

Guests were welcomed at the door with a framed Peter Pan silhouette and a sign letting them know that they arrived at Neverland.
The backyard was turned into a Neverland play area for the kids. I created a sign post to let everyone know which direction everything could be found. This was a simple DIY project with just some scrap wood and paint and I had the perfect sign to go with the Peter Pan themed birthday.

We had Tinkerbell’s fairy Garden full of beautiful flowers and little fairy houses.

Next to that was the Lost boy’s hideout. Where you could hide from Captain Hook behind the vines in their underground camp. Like all lost boy’s hideouts it comes with a set of rules that all must follow.

In one corner of the yard we had Tiger Lily’s Camp. It was really hard to pick a favorite spot, but I think that this was mine. The Teepee was a gift from his Aunt and Uncle at Christmas time. We made a play drum and bow and arrow to add to the teepee. I also added some strings of paper triangles and hung them in the branches around Tiger Lily’s Camp. I also decorated the top of the teepee with some brown paper tassels and a string of feathers.

In the other corner of the yard was Skull rock where Captain Hook’s pirate ship lay anchored. I saved some of our large moving boxes to create Captain Hooks Ship. I painted the cardboard with brown paint and then added the black stripes to look like wood. A smaller painted box sat on the back to create the elevated area of the ship. There is an opening on the other side for the kids to walk into the ship.
At the front of the ship was the pirate flag as well as a box of gold doubloons and a handmade map of buried treasure.

The kids table was decorated with kid friendly toys for them to play with. A toy pirate ship with a Captain Hook, a stuffed crocodile, more gold doubloons as well as a pirates telescope.

The Adult’s table was decorated with Peter Pan theme decorations as well!
The sign I made from a scrap piece of wood and will hang in Ryder’s room once the party is over. I also added more Peter Pan themed items like pixie dust, a cut out picture of Peter and Wendy, Captain Hook’s hook, a Crocodile and a paper cut out of Tinker Bell in a sparkly gold cage to name a few of the things. One of my favorites was the ‘Think Happy Thoughts’ wood cutout. I found that randomly at Michael’s Craft store. Talk about a lucky find!

Inside was the dessert table and where we also did Ryder’s smash cake. And of course everything was decked out in Peter Pan birthday decor!
I found this adorable Peter Pan book and had to include it in the table decorations. They unfortunately don’t seem to have that specific cover book available anymore, at least that I could find, but they do have this other super cute illustrated covered book of Peter Pan!
The building blocks I custom ordered off of Etsy from a shop called Lake Michigan Baby. They are handmade from an old Peter Pan book! How cute are they!! I actually stumbled across this shop at a local craft fair in town. I asked if she was able to make me some Peter Pan blocks and less then a week later these beauties showed up at my door! These blocks are also something that will go in Ryder’s room after the party is over.

I created the Peter Pan cake topper by painting a green number 1 candle with glitter glue. I added some green glitter to the center of candle and then outlined it in a red glitter glue. Then I stuck a red feather similar to the one in Peter Pan’s Hat behind the candle to complete the look.

Ryder ate his cake just like Arianna ate her cake on her first birthday, one little finger at a time.

We are so Thankful for this happy adventurous boy.

The shop that made his ‘ Never Grow Up’ T-shirt is no longer open. However a similar one can be found here.

I will be linking up HERE

Hi Megan,
Our Photographer that took his one year pictures did the shadow for me, so I can’t tell you how to do it I am sorry! I know that we took his picture in that spot so that he would have a shadow on the barn and then she swapped it out with the peter pan shadow. That’s all I know, I am sorry I can’t give you more info on how to do it!
