$2 Thanksgiving Pillow
I just happened to be in Walmart the other day and I came across this adorable tea towel for only $2! I loved it, but I knew that if I used it for its intended purposes that it would not stay looking so nice and cute. Especially since it is mostly white, it would be begging to be touched by little sticky hands. I grabbed it and figured I could figure out a way to use it. Once I got home I got the idea to turn it into a pillow and use it as part of my Thanksgiving decorations.
I am all about quick and easy projects. With two little kids I need something that I can finish in 5 minutes or less or else it just might not get done because I will be called away to something else.
For this project you will need:
Optional: To make this project easier I suggest using a Rotary cutter and a cutting mat
The quickest and easiest way to make a pillow cover is to make an envelope style cover.
Your measurements to make an envelope pillow cover will be determined on the type of pillow form you use. The width of your cover is your pillow form width plus 1 inch. The length of your cover is double the pillow height, plus 6 inches for your enclosure overlap.
For example, if your pillow form is 12×20, cut your fabric 13×46. (12+1= 13 and 20+20+6 = 46)
This pillow is a little different since the words are at the bottom of the tea towel. I center the words on the tea towel where I wanted them to be on the pillow form.
Once it was centered I measured a half an inch out from the left and right sides of the pillow and cut the fabric. Then I placed the fabric so that the print sides were touching each other. With the words of the tea towel in the center I measured my pillow height plus 1 inch and then overlapped the remaining fabric. This will create the enclosure in the back of the pillow for you to slide your pillow form into.
Pin the sides of the cover. Using your sewing machine sew a straight line down each end of the pillow cover.
Turn your pillow cover right side out and put in your pillow form.
That’s it! Now you have a new Thanksgiving pillow cover!

OMG I just saw that tea towel at Walmart and thought what could I do with it? I did not buy it however. Silly me. Love how you turned it into a pillow.
