Toddler hood can be rough and exhausting. I should know, I have one child leaving toddler hood and entering the preschool age and one child that is full-on toddler. I don’t know about you but my son seems to get into a whole lot more mischief then my daughter did!

Often times it seems that we spend half of our days getting our toddlers out of things they are not suppose to be in or off of things they are not suppose to be on, or taking away things they are not suppose to be playing with.

Toddler hood is a whole different world then Baby hood. So many things change, including the essential things for your child. I have put together The Ultimate Guide of Toddler Must Haves to help you make the transition for you and your toddler.

The Ultimate Guide of Toddler Must Haves

Safety

Toddler hood brings about a whole lot more action and mischief and keeping your child safe is half of parenting during this time.

Like I said my son is a whole lot more curious then my daughter was. He learned how to remove the standard outlet plug covers and even the more advanced ones. We have these types of Electrical Outlet Covers  and absolutely love them! Easy for Parents to use but to advanced for those little toddlers. My son has yet to figure these ones out.

I can not tell you enough how much I love my Magnetic Cabinet Locks! They are so simple to install, no screwing them into your cabinets! They definitely keep little ones out of spaces they don’t belong! We keep our key right on our refrigerator.

An  Auto Close Security Gate is a must! No more worrying about people not remembering to close the baby gate. I also like this one because it is so tall and the bars all run vertically. I once had a baby climb over a baby gate because they could put a foot up onto some slots that ran horizontally. Needless to say we didn’t end up using that kind of baby gate again.

Meal Time

Your Toddler is probably insisting on feeding themselves now, which can be quite messy. Here are some things to help contain some of the mess.

A Toddler friendly Fork & Spoon Set are a must for those little independent feeders.

Divided Plates like these help kids get more food on their utensils by providing a ledge to scoop up against.

These Sippy Cups are our favorite. They have tight sealing lids which mean no spills and come apart for easy cleaning. Double win.

Waterproof full coverage bibs to keep the mess off of your little one’s clothes, for the most part. They will still manage to get it somewhere on their clothes somehow. Rest Assured.

Bath Time

Almost after every meal your toddler will need a bath to remove all of the food that they rubbed in places it shouldn’t be. Like their hair or their ears.

I spend a good amount of bath time telling my toddler to sit down in the tub, which is why a Bath Mat is essential to keep them from slipping in the tub.

My kids constantly seem to bump their head on the tub faucet when they are playing around in the tub. Having a Faucet Cover helps prevent all those unwanted head boo-boo’s. This one also has a built in bubble dispenser!

That brings me to my next must have for Toddler bath time and that is Bubble Bath. Who doesn’t like taking a bubble bath?!

Bath toys make bath time much more fun. We love our Boat with Helicopter, not to mention the cute little people that come with it! Playing with a Fishing Pole is always fun. The best part about these bath toys, they won’t get moldy from retaining water! Which means one less thing for you to wash or worry about!

Potty Training

Having a Toddler means potty training is a new word in your vocabulary and that hurdle is on the horizon.

Potty Training underwear (Outer Space | Peony Blossom) not only help your toddler start to understand potty training but also makes them feel like a big kid.

I am a big fan of teaching kids to go potty on the regular toilet from the beginning. Less mess and one less thing you have to work on or transition to. Having a potty training seat helps them not feel like they are going to fall right on in the toilet. Doesn’t mean they won’t manage to do that anyways.

Toilet trainer Hook is essential to keep your potty training seat within arms reach and off of the floor.

This 2-in-1 Toilet Trainer seat is also another cool option to help with potty training. It has a smaller child size seat built right into it!

I sneak in encouraging my toddler about potty training every chance I get, and that includes story time! We make A Potty for Me! book part of our regular reading routine.

Convenience

These essential items make daily activities easier.

We have a Step Stool in almost every room of our house. They help promote independence in your Toddler and also save your back from picking them up all the time.

Faucet Extender is nice to have for when they are still to small, even with a step stool, to reach the faucet. Again, this saves your back from holding them at an awkward angle so that they can wash their hands.

This is one of my every parent needs one of these items!  A Wet Bag is an essential item to have when you have kids. You never know when you might need a bag to hold a messy outfit, potty training accident, or a super messy bib. You just unzip the bag and dump the whole thing in the wash when you get home. No more dealing with pulling dirty items out of a plastic bag, that might not always contain the smell of it either.

Play Time

As your Toddler gets older their imagination will begin to develop and expand. I like to have toys that promotes creative imaginations.

My son just got this Little People Camping set and he loves it and so do I! I just adore that little mini four wheeler!

A Kitchen and play food are one of my kids favorite toys to play with. They like to come up with odd meal choices just to make me cringe my nose at them so they can burst out into laughter.

Duplos are a family favorite. We all love to build and play with the Duplos together. This Big Farm set is one that we own and it gets played with on a daily basis.

I hope this helps navigating though toddler hood a little bit easier!
